• What happens in our consultation?

Once your medical and dental history is reviewed, Dr. Stanley will complete a comprehensive examination of your teeth, jaws and facial muscles. During this examination he will determine:

    • If orthodontic treatment is necessary
    • The best time to initiate orthodontic treatment
    • The length of time for treatment

If Dr. Stanley feels that orthodontic treatment is needed at this time, an appointment for orthodontic diagnostic records may be arranged. These diagnostic records enable Dr. Stanley to make a definitive diagnosis. Approximately two to three weeks after the diagnostic records are obtained, and as soon as any necessary dental work is completed (cleaning, fillings, extractions, etc.), we will schedule an appointment to begin treatment.

  • What's a regular appointment like?

The appointment when you get your appliances (braces, expanders, etc.) usually takes 1 to 2 hours. You’ll then see us at regular intervals 4 to 10 weeks apart for an adjustment, which takes 20 to 40 minutes. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately.

  • How do I pay? What are your policies?

    Cost
The cost of treatment depends on the severity of the patient’s problem. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options before treatment begins. We have several payment plans to suit different budgets. We work hard to make orthodontics affordable.

    Fees
In an effort to keep orthodontic fees down while maintaining the highest level of professional care, we have established this financial policy:

    • To fit your individual needs, financial arrangements can be made to extend your payments over a period of months.
    • For your convenience, we accept payment by pre-authorized debit, email money transfers, Visa and Mastercard.

    Insurance
The contract for financial responsibility will be between the patient (or parent) and our office. We will be happy to fill out orthodontic insurance forms in order that financial reimbursement can be made to you by your insurance company if direct billing is not an option with your insurance company. (The amount depends on your plan.)

  • How does Orthodontic treatment work?

Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or fixed in the mouth for the treatment period. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.

You can now choose clear or metal brackets and, in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable with advancing technology, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort.

Any age is a great age to have Orthodontic treatment!

  • How long does Orthodontic treatment last?

Treatment time varies and can last between one and three years, depending on several factors including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is.

A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or early treatment can also help provide a quicker treatment time.

Before beginning your orthodontic care, your doctor will discuss all of your options and provide an estimate for how long your full treatment may take. Please contact our practice to schedule an appointment and learn more about orthodontics and the treatments we provide.

Testimonials

All staff are so friendly and welcoming, were very patient with all my questions and calmed my fears of my upcoming surgery — so supportive! Their great sense of humour and caring attitudes made my visit so much easier — thanks so much

Dr. Stanley and the staff are so kind and amazing at what they do. I brought my 8 year old daughter there for a palatal expander and she was nervous heading into the appointment. Everyone was so warm and welcoming and they actually spoke to my daughter and showed a real interest in her. Dr. Stanley and the staff were extremely patient and explained everything so I left with a true understanding of the process and what to expect. I am very happy and will be recommending them to family and friends.
